NOMAD is an original project by one of Slovenia’s most sought-after and versatile bassists, Jošt Lampret, exploring the intersections between flamenco, jazz, and contemporary musical practices. As a musical nomad, he creates in the spirit of discovering connections between diverse cultures and sonic traditions. The project stems from a deep respect for flamenco while venturing into the realm of free improvisation and modern interpretation. It innovatively redefines the role of the bass guitar, elevating it from its usual supportive position into a melodic-harmonic instrument of remarkable expressiveness and subtlety. A vital artistic thread of the project is co-created by Urška Centa, whose movement and the rhythmic expression of flamenco become an integral part of the musical dramaturgy. In NOMAD, dance transcends the role of accompaniment, emerging as an equal musical instrument that opens new sonic and expressive dimensions.
